Why They Chose a Destination Wedding in Tuscany, Italy
With M from the US and A from the UK, choosing just one home country didn’t feel quite right. Instead, they decided to get married in Tuscany. The couple got engaged in Sicily, so Italy already held a very special place in their hearts. They dreamed of a wedding surrounded by natural beauty, with a relaxed atmosphere and the possibility of celebrating outdoors. Tuscany felt like the perfect choice.
Wedding Colors, Design Concept & Overall Vision
Their vision was to embrace the natural beauty of the Tuscan countryside. The venue and surrounding landscape were already stunning, so they chose not to overdecorate. A’s family is of Indian heritage, and it was important for them to incorporate design elements that honored Indian culture. They used colorful floral garlands both as décor and during the ceremony. Rather than choosing specific wedding colors, they gravitated toward warm tones inspired by nature. They fell in love with the reds, oranges, and pinks of wildflowers we had seen growing across the Italian countryside on a past road trip, and they wanted to bring that warmth and beauty into their wedding day.
Why La Pescaia Was the Perfect Wedding Venue in Tuscany
M&A absolutely loved the venue. They wanted a place where most of their guests could stay together, allowing everyone to relax and spend time together over several days of celebrations. The food was incredible, the owners were thoughtful and deeply involved, and the accommodations were ideal. The staff truly added magic to the experience—they were kind, resourceful, and genuinely excited to celebrate.
Incorporating Italian Culture Into the Wedding Celebration
M&A wedding was a beautiful blend of cultures and traditions. They embraced Italian cuisine, serving Italian food and drinks throughout the celebrations. They chose to serve only vegetarian food, which was easy to do thanks to Italy’s incredible use of fresh produce. Italian wine was also an important part of their celebration. They worked with a wine merchant to source wine from a vineyard they loved in Sicily, and it was served during their wedding dinner.
Cultural Traditions and Special Wedding Details
One of the most meaningful aspects of M&A's wedding was how they incorporated traditions from both of their backgrounds. Traditional weddings in each of their families look very different, so their celebration became something entirely new—an intentional merging of cultures.
Their welcome party was inspired by an Indian Sangeet. Many guests wore Indian attire, an artist provided Mendhi (henna), and family members led guests in Indian dancing. On the morning of the wedding, they held a Ganesh Puja, an Indian prayer ceremony, which was a deeply special way to begin the day surrounded by family support. During the ceremony itself, they included poems, readings, and music by authors and artists they love, including Mary Oliver, bell hooks, and Einaudi. They were married by M’s brother, who was the most wonderful officiant the couple could have hoped for. To honor M’s Irish heritage, the ceremony also included Celtic knot tying and an Irish blessing.
Most Memorable Moments From the Destination Wedding
M&A wedding celebrations were truly some of the most incredible days of their lives. Looking through the photographs, they love reliving every moment of their three-day celebration. Sharing the vows—written independently—was unforgettable and remains one of their most cherished memories. There was light rain on the morning of the wedding, which is said to bring good luck. They felt incredibly fortunate to still hold the ceremony and dinner outdoors, under a tunnel of string lights. While La Pescaia had wonderful backup options, being able to celebrate outside made everything feel even more magical. Ultimately, some of the most meaningful moments were the small ones—quiet conversations, laughter, and time spent with family and friends throughout the celebration.
